Is it possible that being addicted to success isn’t entirely a bad thing?
We’ve been thinking about this lately, especially for entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Sure, we all know the risks of burnout and overwork (been there, done that…will probably do it again).
But, in reality, some “success addicts” seem to be thriving. Maybe not in every sense, but in some very real ways.
Here are a few benefits we’ve noticed (imperfectly, anecdotally, but worth mentioning):
1️⃣ They don’t switch off easily. That stamina builds things.
2️⃣ They hold the bar high. It pushes everyone to do better.
3️⃣ They’re not afraid to leap. Sometimes, that leads to breakthrough moments.
4️⃣ Productivity becomes habitual. Not always balanced, but consistent.
5️⃣ People notice. That intensity can be contagious.
Of course, there are downsides. Over-attachment to external wins, identity issues, health impacts.
It’s not black and white. Like any powerful drive, it’s all about how it’s managed. That takes practice and often requires guidance.
Some succeed because they’re addicted to success. Others succeed in spite of it.
Something worth unpacking. Do you recognise this in yourself?
